Baseball Recap: International Falls Takes a Loss

International Falls extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-6 in the process. They lost 15-3 to the Hibbing Bluejackets. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Hibbing, the win keeps they at an undefeated 5-0. That looming 15-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Hibbing's part, Easton Fischer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Fischer was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Blake Kolden and Aiden Davey did most of the damage at the plate: Kolden went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Davey went 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those RBI marked the first that Kolden has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braydon Rewertz, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, International Falls will head out on the road to square off against Mountain Iron-Buhl at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hibbing, they will welcome Cherry at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Bluejackets have won three straight at home, while the Tigers won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
