Basketball Recap: Seventy-First Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

Seventy-First won the last time they faced Cape Fear, and Alani-Skye Wilkerson did her part to make sure it happened again. The Seventy-First Falcons walked away with a 51-42 victory over the Cape Fear Colts on Friday thanks in part to Wilkerson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.

Another player making a difference was Paris Barber, who posted four points and six boards. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played.

Several Colts players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lilliana Colon, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Shanel Sutton was another key player, putting up eight points along with six steals and five boards.

Seventy-First is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for Cape Fear, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Seventy-First has already played their next game, a 50-40 win against Jack Britt on the 4th. As for Cape Fear, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 61-34 victory against Douglas Byrd on the 4th.
