Basketball Recap: Winona Takes a Loss

Winona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to the Grenada Chargers at home by a 61-47 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 72-56 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Grenada found their leader in freshman Joshua Guess, who posted nine points and seven rebounds. Richard Smith was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

Winona's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Grenada, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winona and Eupora will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Eupora's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games. Grenada and Lafayette will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on December 27th. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Grenada has lost three straight at home , while Lafayette has lost four on the road.
