Baseball Recap: Bishop Dunne Comes Up Short

Bishop Dunne had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 5-8 to make it five. They came up short against the Grace Prep Lions, falling 20-0. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Falcons, who fell 3-1 when the teams last met back in March of 2025.

As for Grace Prep, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-4-2. Considering they have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Grace Prep's part, Banks Harris and Heath Speck made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Harris didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Speck tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Harris went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Speck went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those two hits gave Speck a new career-high.

In other batting news, Grace Prep got a massive performance out of Jarvis Buchanan, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Those four runs gave Buchanan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carson Lednicky, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Coming up, Bishop Dunne will face off against Brook Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons will need to watch out since the Guard have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Grace Prep, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-1 victory against Regents on the 10th.
