Basketball Game Preview: Melrose Buffaloes vs. Fort Sumner/House

Melrose is 2-8 against Fort Sumner/House since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Melrose Buffaloes will jump right back in to play Fort Sumner/House at 11:30 a.m. One thing working in Melrose's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups.

Melrose is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Maxwell as Melrose made off with a 78-56 victory. The Buffaloes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Fort Sumner/House strolled past Cimarron with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 75-60. Fort Sumner/House hasn't had any issues with Cimarron recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Melrose is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.9 points over those games. Fort Sumner/House's victory bumped their record up to 22-7.

Melrose came up short against Fort Sumner/House in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 72-67. Can Melrose avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
