Softball Recap: Clinton Prairie Has No Trouble Against Delphi Community

Clinton Prairie's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Delphi Community Oracles. The Gophers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Sadie Weliver made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Weliver was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lily Coleman, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Zelda Wampler, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Clinton Prairie is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Delphi Community, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Looking ahead, Clinton Prairie will square off against Lafayette Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gophers are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Delphi Community, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Clinton Central at 5:30 p.m. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Oracles surely won't give up without a fight.
