Baseball Game Preview: Quitman Panthers vs. Stringer Red Devils

The Quitman Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Stringer Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Quitman is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Neshoba Central on Thursday. They came up short against the Rockets, falling 12-1. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Quitman saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Peters, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Peters is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stole at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Stringer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 15-1 to Northeast Jones.

Quitman's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Stringer, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Quitman couldn't quite finish off Stringer when the teams last played back in March of 2019 and fell 3-1. Can Quitman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
