Basketball Recap: Crystal River Pirates vs. Central Bears
After flying high against Belleview last Wednesday, Crystal River came back down to earth. The Crystal River Pirates were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 61-60 to the Central Bears. The Pirates lost against the Bears in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 81-41 score last time.
Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Dumal, who went 6 for 9 en route to 16 points plus six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Dumal a new career-high in threes (four). Jake Yost was another key player, posting 11 points in addition to six assists.
Crystal River's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Central, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Crystal River will take on P.K. Yonge at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Central, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lecanto at 8:00 p.m. on December 3rd.
