Football Recap: Marana Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Marana had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 17-7 win over the Eastmark Firebirds on Tuesday.

Marana found their leader in freshman Isabella Garcia, who threw for 154 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 74 yards on only seven carries.

Marana's defense made their presence known, laying out Paige McCrabb. four times. Leading the way was Alyssa Valencia with three sacks.

Despite the loss, Eastmark still got an impressive performance from McCrabb, who threw for 209 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 67 yards on only eight carries.

Coming up, Marana will square off against Mountain View at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastmark, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 14-7 victory against Benjamin Franklin on the 18th.
