Football Recap: Hopewell Falls Despite Big Games from Ze'vion Grammer and Brian Moore + How To Watch

Hopewell was the 28-14 winner over Petersburg when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Blue Devils fell 20-12 to the Crimson Wave on Thursday.

Hopewell's loss came despite strong showings from Brian Moore and Ze'Vion Grammer. Moore rushed for 70 yards on only eight carries, while Grammer picked up 100 receiving yards and one TD. Grammer has become a key player for the Blue Devils: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 80 receiving yards, but 1-4 otherwise.

Stanley Green was a one-man wrecking crew For Petersburg. as he rushed for 64 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 164 yards on ten of 18 attempts.

Hopewell's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Petersburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Hopewell will square off against rival Matoaca at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Petersburg is set to face off against their familiar foe Thomas Dale at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Crimson Wave 14, the Knights 8.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
