Softball Recap: Steinmetz College Prep Takes a Loss

If Steinmetz College Prep was feeling good fresh off their 22-5 takedown of Phoenix Military on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Silver Streaks came up short against the Westinghouse Warriors on Saturday, falling 32-13. The Silver Streaks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 8-5.

Dinasti Bell and Yaslene Ruiz did some serious damage despite the final result: Bell went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Ruiz got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Bell has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcia Jackson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

Steinmetz College Prep has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Westinghouse, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Warriors beat Steinmetz College Prep by a score of 15-5 later that day.
