Baseball Recap: Colebrook Academy Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Colebrook Academy dropped their record down to 11-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Gorham Huskies by a score of 6-5. Surprisingly, this marked the Mohawks' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

As for Gorham, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games.

For Gorham's part, Jack Saladino made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Saladino has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kasey Guilmette, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Michael Inkell was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colebrook Academy will take on Profile at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gorham, they will challenge Littleton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
