Preview: Anniston Bulldogs vs. Alexandria Valley Cubs
Anniston has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Alexandria Valley Cubs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Anniston's defense has only allowed 25.4 points per game this season, so Alexandria's offense will have their work cut out for Alexandria.
Anniston has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 23 points or more this season. They blew past Piedmont, posting a 59-30 win at home. Given Anniston's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Piedmont is ranked 235th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Alexandria's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 40-21 to Jacksonville.
Anniston's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for Alexandria, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Anniston beat Alexandria 52-42 in their previous matchup back in January of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Anniston since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
