Recap: Sparta Academy Warriors vs. Hooper Academy Colts
The Sparta Academy Warriors managed to keep up with the Hooper Academy Colts until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Sparta Academy suffered a tough 62-41 defeat at the hands of Hooper Academy. Sparta Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hooper Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.
Despite the defeat, Sparta Academy saw an underclassman step up: Murfee Williams scored nine points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Those four blocks set a new season-high mark for him. Jud Robinson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Sparta Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Hooper Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
Sparta Academy will head out on the road to face off against Edgewood Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hooper Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Cornerstone Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cornerstone Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Friday.
