Soccer Game Preview: Central Catholic vs. Patterson

The Central Catholic Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Patterson Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Central Catholic has struggled recently with nine losses in a row, while Patterson will arrive with six straight victories.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Central Catholic's offense. They lost 5-0 to Sierra on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1046th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 236th).

Meanwhile, Patterson earned a 3-1 win over East Union on Tuesday.

Andrew Diaz and Jose Fajardo scored all three of Patterson's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Patterson pushed their record up to 10-0-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those five games. As for Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Central Catholic suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Patterson in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Central Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
