Baseball Recap: Appleton West Terrors vs. Fond du Lac Cardinals
Appleton West extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-8 in the process. They came up short against the Fond du Lac Cardinals, falling 8-1. If the Terrors were looking for revenge after losing 6-1 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Michael Gwiazdon was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those hits were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dimitry Edmunds, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
As for Fond du Lac, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-4. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.
On Fond du Lac's side, Logan Hahn looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Jack Brenner was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Greyson Wenger, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
