Basketball Recap: Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons vs. Quince Orchard Cougars
The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They put the hurt on Quince Orchard with a sharp 50-24 win. Given Bethesda-Chevy Chase's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Cougars are ranked 164th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Frances Doyle continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sasha Barr, who scored 13 points.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kelly Adams, who scored six points along with two steals.
Bethesda-Chevy Chase's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points per game. As for Quince Orchard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bethesda-Chevy Chase will challenge the Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Quince Orchard, they will head out on the road to face off against the Knights at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Wheaton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
