East Chambers is 0-10 against Kirbyville since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The East Chambers Buccaneers will face off against the Kirbyville Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
East Chambers was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Hardin on Tuesday. East Chambers was the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over Hardin. The Buccaneers have beaten the Hornets the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hornets has come to flipping the script.

Hailey Hjelle was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last five games. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, East Chambers let Emily Vratis and Marley Morgan run wild. Vratis scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-5, while Morgan went 3-for-5 with three RBI. That's the most hits Morgan has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Selby, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
East Chambers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Kirbyville put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Buna a 10-0 shutout.
Calli Wiggins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Emilee Denz was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Lilly Cooper was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Kirbyville pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 15 hits in those games compared to only 4.61 in the others. As for East Chambers, their record is now 14-7-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Chambers hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Kirbyville struggles in that department as they've averaged .342. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
