Football Game Preview: El Cerrito Gauchos vs. Saint Mary's Panthers + Official Tickets

For the first time this season, El Cerrito will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After both having extra time off, they and the Saint Mary's Panthers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Cerrito will be strutting in after a victory while Saint Mary's will be coming in after a defeat.

El Cerrito took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed back in September. They walked away with a 21-13 win over Oakland Tech. The Gauchos haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Saint Mary's was not able to break out of their rough patch last Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 26-20 heartbreaker at the hands of Kennedy.

El Cerrito will have to contain Wyatt Swanson as he made an impact in Saint Mary's last game. He rushed for 38 yards and three scores. Swanson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making eight total tackles.

Saint Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for El Cerrito, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
