Baseball Recap: Maysville Find Success

Maysville hadn't done well against River View recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Panthers skirted past the Black Bears 10-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

BRYCE FISHER made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Maysville's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 4-13 when he doesn't). FISHER was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, KALE RILEY was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Maysville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for River View, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-12.

Looking ahead, Maysville will take on John Glenn at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the Little Muskies at the right time seeing as the Little Muskies are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for River View, they will square off against Tuscarawas Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Black Bears will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: the Trojans will have lost three straight heading into Wednesday's game.
