Volleyball Recap: Marika Jarosinka-Hassa Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Guymon

Dodge City needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from Emily Gutierrez. The Demons came out on top against the Guymon Tigers by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday for which the team can thank Gutierrez, who had ten digs and three aces. Those aces marked the first that she has served this season.

While Dodge City won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21.

Dodge City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marika Jarosinka-Hassa, who had 13 assists and four digs. That's the most assists Jarosinka-Hassa has posted over her last five matches.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Guymon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, Dodge City and Guymon will both be playing Great Bend the next time they take the court. The Demons will host the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Tigers will play them later in the day, at 5:15 p.m.
