Baseball Game Preview: Southern Huntingdon County Rockets vs. Portage Mustangs

The Southern Huntingdon County Rockets are taking a road trip to face off against the Portage Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Southern Huntingdon County and four for Portage.

Southern Huntingdon County lost 12-1 to Northern Bedford County on Tuesday.

Southern Huntingdon County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Levi Morgan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Portage came up short against Conemaugh Valley on Friday and fell 7-2.

Portage also got a good showing from Ethan Strittmatter, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Strittmatter has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Portage's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Southern Huntingdon County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Southern Huntingdon County couldn't quite get it done against Portage in their previous matchup back in April of 2022 as they fell 6-3. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
