West Lafayette hadn't done well against Lafayette Central Catholic recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Red Devils walked away with a 14-9 win over the Knights. The Red Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Ben Werth made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with three runs and four RBI.

In other batting news, Calvin Snyder was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Joe Doty was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

West Lafayette's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-4. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2.

West Lafayette will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
