Softball Recap: East Moline United Find Success

East Moline United hadn't done well against Sterling recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Panthers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Warriors, sneaking past 9-8. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 4-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Miah Berhenke, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Alyse Merrill also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Berhenke wasn't the only one working in the home run department: East Moline United lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sterling didn't launched any home runs.

East Moline United's record now sits at 5-1. As for Sterling, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-3 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Moline United will welcome Rock Island at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rocks have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Sterling, they will be playing at home against Galesburg at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Warriors are facing the Silver Streaks at the right time seeing as the Silver Streaks are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
