Baseball Game Preview: Palm Desert Aztecs vs. Brawley Wildcats

The Palm Desert Aztecs will take on the Brawley Wildcats in a tournament on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Palm Desert comes in on five and Brawley on four.

On Thursday, Palm Desert beat Xavier Prep 6-1. That's two games straight that the Aztecs have won by exactly five runs.

Jake Brande spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mason Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Brawley posted their closest win since February 27th on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Holtville, sneaking past 6-4.

Palm Desert pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Brawley, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
