Baseball Game Preview: Berea Pirates vs. Model Patriots

For the first time this season, Berea will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Model Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Berea's last matchup with Barbourville could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. Berea lost 12-6 to Barbourville. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Nathan Prophitt was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Tommie Banderman was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Model came up short against Western Hills on Monday, falling 15-6.

Matthew Gorbett put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Gorbett was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cal Hall made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Berea now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Model, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Berea skirted past Model 6-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will Berea repeat their success, or does Model has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
