The Calaveras Red Hawks will face off against the Big Valley Christian Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Calaveras will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Riverbank on Tuesday. The Red Hawks blew past the Bruins 15-2. Considering the Red Hawks have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kamryn Thornburg and Mariah Maddock made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Thornburg struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Maddock pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Thornburg has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Thornburg went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI, while Maddock went 1-for-2 with three runs and one triple. Those three runs gave Maddock a new career-high.
In other batting news, Rylie Shields was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendra Baechler, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Big Valley Christian). They were the clear victors by a 23-14 margin over Bret Harte on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on three straight.
The team relied heavily on Cecily Fontana, who went 3-for-6 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. Kailey Rivera was another key player, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Big Valley Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.
Calaveras has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Big Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-15.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Calaveras has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Big Valley Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Calaveras took their win against Big Valley Christian when the teams last played on April 7th by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Red Hawks repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
