Football Recap: Enfield's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

After flying high against Simsbury last Friday, Enfield came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Newington Nor'easters by a score of 15-13 on Friday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Nor'easters apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Despite the loss, Enfield still got an impressive performance from Jonathan Hewitt, who rushed for 125 yards and one TD on only 14 carries. Hewitt is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season.

Josiah Sims was a one-man wrecking crew For Newington. as he rushed for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries. Those 154 rushing yards gave Sims a new career-high.

Having lost for the first time this season, Enfield fell to 2-1. As for Newington, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Enfield has already played their next game, a 50-15 loss against New Britain on the 3rd. As for Newington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 20-12 defeat against Middletown on the 3rd.
