Basketball Game Preview: Rogers Vikings vs. Woonsocket Villa Novans

The Rogers Vikings will face off against the Woonsocket Villa Novans at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Rogers will be strutting in after a win while Woonsocket will be coming in after a defeat.

Rogers took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They took down Cranston West 47-33. The game marked the Vikings' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Meanwhile, Woonsocket was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost to Mt. Pleasant on the road by a 58-39 margin.

Rogers will need focus on slowing down Angel Hernandez, one of several Woonsocket players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 14 points. Hernandez has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Jans Aponte was another key player, putting up nine points.

The win got Rogers back to even at 4-4. As for Woonsocket, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
