Softball Recap: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial Takes a Loss

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 13-13 in the process. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McAllen Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 4-3 loss last Friday.

For McAllen's part, Eliana Villanueva was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Villanueva a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Giada Farias, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for McAllen, they will welcome Mercedes at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
