Baseball Game Preview: Farmington Scorpions vs. Rio Rancho Rams

Farmington hasn't had much luck against Rio Rancho recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Scorpions will host the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Rio Rancho took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Farmington, who comes in off a win.

Farmington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Piedra Vista, who was ranked 12th at the time (Farmington was ranked 13th). The Scorpions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Panthers on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Scorpions as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Rio Rancho's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Cleveland by a score of 5-4.

Farmington's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 14-7. As for Rio Rancho, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 16-5.
