Recap: St. John's Bluejays vs. Jefferson Wildcats
The St. John's Bluejays had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 53-46 to Jefferson on Friday. While losing is never fun, St. John's can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 351st, while Jefferson is ranked 66th).
St. John's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abby Kerner, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Will, who scored 16 points.
St. John's struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Jefferson pulled down 21.
Lyv Lindeman was on fire for Jefferson: she dropped a double-double on 35 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lauren French, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
St. John's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Jefferson, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
St. John's will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Spencerville at 7:30 p.m. As for Jefferson, they will head out on the road to face off against New Bremen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
