Recap: Palmetto Ridge Bears vs. Barron Collier Cougars
The Palmetto Ridge Bears entered their tilt with the Barron Collier Cougars with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Palmetto Ridge strolled past Barron Collier with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 54-36. For Palmetto Ridge, this counts as revenge for the 71-52 defeat Barron Collier walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Palmetto Ridge had a senior duo take command as Calven Charles scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks and Sean Gomez scored 15 points along with six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Gomez has scored at least 25% of Palmetto Ridge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydon Soto, who scored five points along with five assists.
Palmetto Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Barron Collier, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmetto Ridge will challenge Bonita Springs at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Barron Collier and Hallandale will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hallandale knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Barron Collier likes a good challenge.
