Flag Football Recap: Heritage Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Heritage extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping them down to 2-11. They were beaten by the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles 47-0. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado flag football rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked first).

Even if they lost, Heritage's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Phoebe Hudson. Hudson is crushing it when it comes to sacks: she's posted at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

As for Mountain Vista, their record is now 14-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Ariana Akey produced another solid performance throwing for 172 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for 80 yards on only seven carries. She also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, making one tackle and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception which she returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Heritage wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-6 win against Regis Jesuit on the 2nd. As for Mountain Vista, they will head out on the road to challenge Highlands Ranch at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Eagles will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.22 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
