Recap: Independence Patriots vs. Youngker Roughriders
The Independence Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Youngker, falling 49-15. Independence has not had much luck with Youngker recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Youngker to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jazmine Ramirez, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Ashlee Gonzalez, who scored nine points along with nine steals and eight rebounds.
Independence's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Youngker, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kofa at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. After both having extra time off, Youngker and Copper Canyon will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
