Basketball Game Preview: Oxford Wildcats vs. Little River Redskins

The Oxford Wildcats will take on the Little River Redskins at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Oxford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.8 points per game this season.

Oxford is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Central just ended the team's five-game winning streak two weeks ago. They fell 48-40 to the Raiders.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kellen Green, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cordell Jordan, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Little River rose to the challenge on Monday. They came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 48-39. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redskins.

Little River's win came from a few key players Oxford will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaxson Konen, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 13 points and five assists. Logan Renken was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Little River was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They are 10-2 when they've passed the ball that well.

Oxford's defeat dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Little River, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.

Keep an eye on the arc in Saturday's contest: Oxford has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 36.6% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Little River, though, as they've only made 29.2% of their three-pointers this season.
