Recap: Newton Eagles vs. Pollok Central Bulldogs
This season hasn't been kind to the Newton Eagles, who are still winless after their fifth game. Their tough 58-34 defeat to Pollok Central on Wednesday might stick with them for a while. Newton has not had much luck with Pollok Central recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Wyatt Graham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pollok Central, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Jake Matthews, who scored seven points.
Newton's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Pollok Central, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newton will square off against Hemphill at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hemphill has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests. As for Pollok Central, they will head out on the road to square off against Central Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Central Heights will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 961st, while Pollok Central is ranked 432nd).
