Deep Run hasn't had much luck against Mechanicsville recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. Deep Run is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

Deep Run's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when St. Catherine's hitters got past them. The Wildcats fell 10-6 to the Saints two weeks ago.

Emily Plank and Hope Tate were huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, Plank struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Tate pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Plank has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Plank went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI, while Tate scored a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Gabby Chrapek was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Baulsir, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mechanicsville). They skirted past Thomas Dale 6-5.

The team relied heavily on Camryn Shaw, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Howell, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Mechanicsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Deep Run's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Mechanicsville, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Everything went Deep Run's way against Mechanicsville when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Deep Run made off with a 10-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
