Softball Recap: Northwest Takes a Loss

Northwest fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Columbia Central on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mounties have suffered since May 2, 2024.

Lucy Bivens (2025) spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Northwest saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ari Good (2025), who went 1-for-4 with one run.

Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Columbia Central, they pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Northwest will challenge Lumen Christi Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Columbia Central, they will take on East Jackson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.14 runs per game on average), something the Golden Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
