The Beaver Local Beavers will face off against the Columbiana Clippers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Beaver Local lost 10-1 to Bellaire on Wednesday.
Beaver Local saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paxton Grimes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Columbiana entered their tilt with Heartland Christian on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 13-7 victory. The result was nothing new for the Clippers, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Reese Roush made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Young, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was William Bucci, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Columbiana pushed their record up to 10-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Beaver Local, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
