Baseball Recap: Merritt Island Takes a Loss

Merritt Island lost against Eau Gallie last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Merritt Island Mustangs took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eau Gallie Commodores.

Merritt Island got a good showing from Benjamin Hettinger, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hettinger has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

Merritt Island's record is now 7-3. As for Eau Gallie, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Merritt Island will square off against Melbourne at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Eau Gallie, they will face off against Viera at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Eau Gallie: 2.2, Viera: 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
