Volleyball Recap: Muscatine Muskies vs. Pleasant Valley Spartans
After flying high against Clinton last Tuesday, Muscatine came back down to earth. The Muscatine Muskies lost 3-0 to the Pleasant Valley Spartans on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Muskies of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2023.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-13, 25-9.
Among those leading the charge was Carsyn Kelley, who had three kills and 25 assists. She is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in the last four games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Asselin, who had seven digs and a kill.
Muscatine's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Pleasant Valley, the win was the 25th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 33-2.
Muscatine will be playing at home against Waukee on Saturday. Pleasant Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
