Volleyball Recap: Van Wert Takes a Loss

Van Wert was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Kenton Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Van Wert was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-17, 25-22.

Flannery Foster paced Van Wert's offense, picking up eight kills. Foster got some help from Brissia Ickes and her 13 assists. Ickes was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Van Wert's loss dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Kenton, they moved to 7-13 with that victory, which also ended their six-match losing streak.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, Van Wert and Bath will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on the 16th. As for Kenton, they have already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Hardin Northern on the 8th.
