Basketball Recap: Maryland School for the Deaf Comes Up Short

Maryland School for the Deaf suffered their closest loss since December 12, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the California School for the Deaf-Riverside Cubs by a score of 42-39. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Orioles came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 164th in Maryland, while the Cubs are ranked 493rd in California).

Maryland School for the Deaf has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for California School for the Deaf-Riverside, their win bumped their record up to 19-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maryland School for the Deaf will square off against Hancock at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Maryland School for the Deaf is facing Hancock at the right time seeing as Hancock is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for California School for the Deaf-Riverside, they will face off against Sherman Indian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Sherman Indian: 29.7, California School for the Deaf-Riverside: 27.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
