Basketball Recap: Fullerton's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Fullerton won the last time they faced Heartland Lutheran, and Kane Wetovick did his part to make sure it happened again. The Fullerton Warriors breezed by the Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets to the tune of 66-38 on Saturday thanks in part to Wetovick, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least 17 points.

Heartland Lutheran's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xander Rivera, who posted eight points. The dominant performance also gave Rivera a new career-high in field goal percentage (57%). Colton Zehendner was another key player, putting up seven points and seven boards.

The win made it two in a row for Fullerton and bumps their season record up to 13-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points over those games. As for Heartland Lutheran, their record is now 6-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fullerton will square off against Newman Grove/St. Edward at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fullerton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season. Heartland Lutheran will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Blue Hill at 6:00 p.m. on February 21st.
