Baseball Recap: St. Augustine Drops Season-High Score on De La Salle

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Augustine). They blew past the De La Salle Cavalier 19-3 on Monday. The Purple Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

Ivell Oatis looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, St. Augustine got a massive performance out of Bryce Robinson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Robinson has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Jackson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Augustine and bumps their season record up to 9-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for De La Salle, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Augustine will take on Warren Easton at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be St. Augustine's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for De La Salle, they will face off against St. Martin's Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
