Volleyball Recap: Madison Academy Takes a Loss

Madison Academy lost against St. John Paul II back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 3-2.

Madison Academy took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 15-13.

Janelle Lowery paced Madison Academy's offense, picking up 11 kills. Lowery got some help from Sarah Bacon and her 36 assists. Isabelle Sutton and Maggie Boyd kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Bella Grant was a one-woman wrecking crew For St. John Paul II. as she had 28 digs and five assists. Those 28 digs gave Grant a new career-high.

Madison Academy's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 23-12. As for St. John Paul II, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-11 record this season.

Madison Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against New Hope on the 9th. As for St. John Paul II, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Decatur Heritage Christian Academy on the 4th.
