Preview: Jordan-Matthews Jets vs. Cummings Cavaliers
Jordan-Matthews is on a five-game streak of home losses, Cummings an eight-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Jordan-Matthews Jets will take on the Cummings Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jordan-Matthews comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Jordan-Matthews suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Seaforth 63-12. Jordan-Matthews has struggled against Seaforth recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Jordan-Matthews saw an underclassman step up: Yamilet Lozano scored five points along with two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Jordan-Matthews struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Seaforth racked up 14 assists.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 56-21, which was the final score in Cummings' tilt against Southeast Alamance on Wednesday. Cummings was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-8.
Jordan-Matthews has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Cummings, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
Jordan-Matthews skirted past Cummings 40-37 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Does Jordan-Matthews have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cummings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
