Baseball Recap: Boone Grove Drops Season-High Score on River Forest

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Boone Grove). They were the clear victors by a 34-9 margin over the River Forest Ingots on Friday. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by nine runs or more this season.

Boone Grove got a massive performance out of Maxwell Truby, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, six RBI, and three doubles. Those four hits gave Truby a new career-high. Caleb Thomas was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs.

Boone Grove hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.

Boone Grove pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for River Forest, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.

Boone Grove and River Forest are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Wolves will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against 21st Century Charter at 7:00 p.m. on the 28th. As for River Forest, they will face off against Hammond Morton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
