Softball Recap: East Leopards vs. Woods Cross Wildcats

After flying high against Skyline last Tuesday, East came back down to earth. The East Leopards lost 18-11 to the Woods Cross Wildcats on Wednesday. East has struggled against Woods Cross recently, as their match on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Liily Maughan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI. Kylee Grant was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Even though they lost, East didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with eight strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woods Cross only tossed four.

On Woods Cross' side, they got a massive performance out of Natalie Wall, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, a triple, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Juggert, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

East's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Woods Cross, their win ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-15.

East will take on Highland at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. East is facing Highland at the right time seeing as Highland is stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Woods Cross, they will head out on the road to take on Northridge at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Woods Cross is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
